Section Three

Representing and Reflecting on My Understandings

Today we are trying to live ever closer to the lives
about which we write. Many examples are available.
Others are forthcoming that try to show not that we
can live those lives, but that we have lived close
enough to them to begin to understand how their worlds
have been constructed... We care less about our
'objectivity' as scientists than we do about providing
our readers with some powerful propositional, tacit,
intuitive, emotional, historical, poetic and empathic
experience of the Other via the texts we write.
